Financial Assistance for Buying a Bike After Véligo

Have you fallen in love with cycling and want to get one of your own for your daily journeys? We're delighted! To support you all the way in this new mobility, we have compiled a summary of the various financial assistance and other subsidies for electric bikes, mechanical bikes, and bikes adapted for people with special needs that could help you buy your own bike.

In order to allow as many Île-de-France residents as possible to benefit from Véligo Location, the bike provided during your rental cannot be purchased at the end of the contract.
However, there are many programs to help you get equipped with a bike.

Île-de-France Mobilités Assistance

To encourage cycling, Île-de-France Mobilités has set up a purchase grant for different types of bikes. The grant covers up to 50% of the purchase price including tax for the bike and accessories, with limits depending on the type of bike:

Up to 400€

Standard electrically assisted bicycle
Cargo bike without electric assistance
Folding bike with or without electric assistance

Up to 600€

Cargo bike with electric assistance

Up to 200€

Electrification kit installed by a professional

Up to 100€

Standard mechanical bicycle

Reserved for 15-25 year olds

Up to 1200€

Adapted bikes

For people with special needs

The Île-de-France Mobilités grant can be combined with subsidies provided by local authorities. The total sum of the combined grants has no maximum cap.

Local Assistance Programs

At the local level, several local authorities in the Île-de-France region offer grants for bike purchases. Some may be subject to income requirements.

Here are some clear, concrete examples:

The Paris City Hall offers a €400 grant
Fontenay-sous-Bois and Nogent-sur-Marne provide the same: €400
In Sceaux, the grant is €100
In Rueil-Malmaison, the grant can be up to €500
In Bougival, the grant is €250
In Pantin, the grant is €200 and can be renewed after three years.

Corporate Assistance: Sustainable Mobility Allowance

Good news! Your employer can also help you acquire your bike. Some works councils may cover part of the purchase price of a bike upon presentation of an invoice.

Additionally, the Sustainable Mobility Allowance was introduced to cover commuting expenses for employees who come to work by bike (whether electric or not). This allowance is not mandatory and replaces the kilometer-based bicycle allowance (IKV). It can provide up to €600 per year per employee.

This assistance can be awarded to all employees: permanent, fixed-term, temporary, apprentices, interns, part-time staff, and those working at multiple locations.

There are a few formalities: The employee must provide a sworn statement or other proof of using the mode of transport covered by the sustainable mobility allowance. If the employer changes the allowance conditions, they must inform the employee at least 1 month in advance. The amount of reimbursement must be listed on the payslip.

The sustainable mobility allowance can be combined with other schemes:

Covers public transport subscriptions.
Covers fuel costs and the charging of electric vehicles.
